Programming on my mobile.

Yesterday when i had written the blog on the "war between MS and non-MS (which definitely is not exclusive as Pra has commented)", I had thought of written about the lifes of steve jobs and bill gates. There is lot of data about that on the web. So maybe that can wait for some more time to be on this page.
Meanwhile, I have started to know more about the symbian OS and how tough/easy is it to make programmes that run on it. Before going into the depth of talking about the symbian OS lets just get an overview of the many basic topics of operating systems on mobiles. I agree that there are many sites that provide this information. I would like to consolidate all the scattered data and would like to make this a very concise information box. Lets see if this works out. I would also be providing all the sites for where I have gathered the information.

Will be starting from tomorrow.....

And the war continues....

On August 15 2005, Microsoft Group Vice President Jim Allchin decided to give some information about Microsoft Longhorn. "Longhorn is going to rock" he says.

Well... more fun was to read the comments , in one of which an "anonymous user" had counter-featured the features that Allchin had talked about and explained their presence in Macintosh.
I will be listing down a few of the war scenes... MS: Microsoft comment. C: The anonymous user comment.

Instant Desktop Search -

MS: Longhorn's search feature is called Visualize and Organize and will still be included despite the removal of WinFS from the system
C:
OS X Tiger has it. Check out http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/spotlight/

SyncManager-
MS:
We'll have a SyncManager in Longhorn to simplify the sync process for phones and other machines. It's [not ActiveSync, the PocketPC tool,] but a new version of synchronization, a brand new system being done for Longhorn that will have a whole set of wireless support so it can run more seamlessly between work and home and understands the environment.
C:
Once again, Microsoft's late to the game, but welcome to the party! I couldn't work without iSync from Apple. Seriously. See http://www.mac.com/1/isync.html

Security-
MS:
[Longhorn] will be safe and secure. Safety means you help users to protect themselves: Parental controls, deciding who you can talk to and what time, being able to browse the Internet in a protected window.
C:
You mean...like using a Mac? Do I REALLY need to say anything more here?
C: So that's it? "Longhorn will be a major Windows version?" "Longhorn is going to rock."? LOL...Honest to God, you Windows fanboys are a pathetic lot.

So on and soforth MS and C where having a virtual argument of who/what is actually better. If you want to know more about what happened you can go to http://www.windowsitpro.com/articles/index.cfm?articleid=46080&cpage=1 if it still exists.

There are two type of people existing, one who adore Microsoft and Bill Gates to the limit of worshipping, and the other who just want to find a way out to efface the so-called "monopoly" that it has been enjoying. Both these types strongly believe in their views and find no stone unturned in trying to let the other down.
Seems to be a virtual 3rd world war going on, producing advanced "weapons" they call "features" just to succeed over the other.
Well, still its much better than real war where the common man loses the most:)

Lets do Adobe Talk

I am presently in the Noida office of Adobe Systems, formally known as Adobe Systems India Pvt Ltd. The office is magnificiently build with colors which I think are trying to say something, but I still have to figure that out.
Adobe can be what you want to make it. If you have the enthusiasm to know more about technology, Adobe has a lot to say. If you are one of the people who "just come to work because they have to earn, 5 pm and I am out" then too Adobe would adjust with you very well. Sometimes I think that I have come to an ideal firm in my early "professional" life. Am figuring out what I want from it yet.
Now about my life in Adobe, come at 11 am ( +- x) leave at 11 pm (+- y). Working on PDF Library SDK in the Coretech team. Its been an year now and I still think there is so much more to learn. Some people call that a good thing....I call it LATE.
From now on I will try to write of whatever new I get to know about technology in my everyday like in this firm. If might be helpful...it might be bogus...but I would love to write it.

what do I do

This being the first blog, I think I should start by saying .... hi there... this is samreen dhillon. I am a 25 year old girl working in the software industry since more than an year. Life out of college is way different from what I am leading right now, though I try to make it as much fun by having many night-outs ... which sometimes my body also doesn't permit.
the question that I have been asking myself is - Why software....why not MBA or even IAS?
and to that i can say -- I might want to be as inconspicuous as I can be but I dare to excel in profession. People call me workaholic( well they used to when I was in college) or even lazy (what ppl call me now) but I dream of doing stuff, of making stuff(even though virtually) - and that makes the "software" profession the most rewarding. I donot actually like the word "software", its not as impactful as "hardware" - these two words I heard when I passed out of school. That made me think hardware is better than software. Now that I am into "software" I just wish I could change the name......
